With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, most of us are looking for ways to share and express love to those close to us.
Since September, I have been meeting with some friends. We have formed a little book club; meeting once a month, and reading through one book over the school year. We sip on hot tea and discuss several chapters. It’s been such a lovely way to spend time together!
Have you celebrated Galentines with your girlfriends?? I love this concept!! I have been thinking about how I can celebrate with my book club friends.
How about a simple home facial?? Skip the spa, gather some girlfriends, a few supplies, and your skin will thank you!
There are huge benefits for your skin from this simple activity.
Some of the benefits include:
- Hydrate & moisturize
- Cleanse impurities
- Increase circulation
- Promotes relaxation
What do you need?
- Clean bowl & towel
- Distilled or purified water – you can also use rose water toner or rose hydrosol
- Dried flowers – lavender buds, calendula, chamomile, rosemary (all provide benefits for your skin)
- Essential oils – frankincense, lavender, geranium, or tea tree
Don’t forget to listen to some calming music! 💜
Put 2-4 cups of liquid in a small pot – bring to a boil. Add one or two tablespoons of dried flowers. Lavender buds, chamomile, calendula flowers will add calming properties to the skin. Rosemary will add invigorating properties. Allow liquid and dried flowers to simmer for three minutes. Remove from heat and pour into a large bowl. When steam is warm to the touch, add 12 drops of essential oil.
Pull your hair back! Grab your towel and drape it over your head as you lower your face 8-12 inches from the bowl. Steam away for about 10 minutes.
**Don’t get your face too close to the water!
**Steam will quickly burn your skin, make sure steam isn’t too hot before you start your facial!
