Our Life is
March weather,
Savage and serene
in one hour.
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Isn’t that so true! Sunny and spring like weather one minute – snow storm the next! It is absolutely beautiful in Tennessee right now. Perfect temperatures and all the blooms everywhere!
One of my goals this year is to take care of all routine medical appointments. I have neglected just about all medical appointments for six years…with the exception of dentist and dermatologist. Since the middle of January it’s been healthy eating and doctor appointments for me. I think we have all been motivated to keep our immune systems strong so that we are less susceptible to covid. Consistently taking vitamin D, vitamin C and zinc to help keep our immune systems strong has been a goal for most Americans.
Recently I learned that I have low vitamin D, and I know I’m not alone! After researching my options, I discovered a new product from Amp Human – D+Lotion. This lotion delivers 5000 IU of vitamin D3 directly to your body by applying it to the skin. Two pea sized pumps on the inner forearm, then rubbed into the skin, and you’re set for the day. This means 5 less vitamins that my body must process. I cannot wait to get my blood retested! Give it a try…but also, try getting outside each day and let your skin absorb some vitamin D the natural way!
Another change I have made is to consistently apply magnesium lotion every night. Did you know that magnesium helps regulate levels of vitamin D? There are other wonderful benefits to supplementing magnesium on a daily basis. Anxiety, fatigue, muscle weakness or cramping, irregular heartbeat, restless leg syndrome are all symptoms of magnesium deficiency.
I have been experimenting with several different recipes, and think I may have landed on one that I really like. Great consistency, lovely lavender smell, and this lotion delivers about 250 mg each application. I am sleeping better, joints are feeling less achy, and no more restless legs! We will keep experimenting and maybe one day will make it available on our website!
How about another really fun project to make? A little something for your soaking bath nights. This project is made using epsom salt, dried flowers or dried flower buds, and essential oils. Did you know that epsom salt’s chemical name is magnesium sulfate? Try this recipe and enjoy a relaxing therapeutic bath!
Epsom Salt – 1-2 Cups
Dried flowers or flower buds – I used calendula, lavender buds, rose petals.
Other suggestions include: rosemary, chamomile buds, peony, jasmine – just to name a few!
Essential oil – I added lavender oil/ 10-12 drops. Other suggestions – eucalyptus, tea tree, rose, frankincense
- Put epsom salt in a glass bowl
- Crumble rose petals and calendula
- Add lavender blossoms
- Stir – then drop essential oils onto the mixture – stir again
- Add to your bath water!
You could also make this adorable gift by adding the mixture into a test tube, then adding some decorations
The next appointment on my calendar is my annual full body check with my dermatologist – one appointment I do make every year. Make this appointment a priority each year. It’s not enough to just take care of your skin with our great products, we all need to make sure we don’t have any untoward skin events happening.
Make sure you take care of you!
Enjoy the beauty surrounding you!
